What this is
WADA coverage: acetazolamide, amiloride, bumetanide, canrenone, chlortalidone, etacrynic acid, furosemide, indapamide, metolazone, thiazides, bendroflumethiazide, chlorothiazide, hydrochlorothiazide, torasemide, triamterene, xipamide, vaptans, conivaptan, mozavaptan, tolvaptan, albumin, dextran, hydroxyethyl starch, mannitol, desmopressin and probenecid. Drospirenone, pamabrom, topical ophthalmic carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, dorzolamide, brinzolamide and dental felypressin are WADA-listed exceptions, not added as prohibited-performance interventions.
Mechanism
Diuretics can rapidly reduce scale weight through water loss and some masking agents alter urinary excretion; neither is fat loss, and risk rises quickly with dehydration or electrolyte shifts.
Dose & route
Clinical dosing varies by drug and indication; no weight-cutting dose
