Mood, Anxiety & Stress · Beta-blocker / performance-anxiety agent
Tier C+
What this is
WADA coverage: acebutolol, alprenolol, atenolol, betaxolol, bisoprolol, bunolol, carteolol, carvedilol, celiprolol, esmolol, labetalol, metipranolol, metoprolol, nadolol, nebivolol, oxprenolol, pindolol, sotalol and timolol. Propranolol remains its own page because it is the common off-label performance-anxiety reference drug.
Mechanism
Beta-blockers blunt adrenergic physical symptoms such as tremor and tachycardia; this can help precision-sport or stage-performance anxiety but may impair endurance output.
Dose & route
Clinical dosing varies by agent and indication; no universal performance-anxiety dose
