Rubedo reported preliminary Phase 1 results in March 2026 from a single-centre, ascending-dose, randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled EU trial across three populations — plaque psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and photo-aged skin — treating for one month. It met its primary safety and tolerability endpoint and showed a clinical signal in four weeks: senescent-cell reduction and roughly 20% less epidermal thickness in the mid- and high-dose psoriasis cohorts, a >=4-point itch improvement in 25% of atopic-dermatitis subjects against none on vehicle, and in photo-aged skin dose-dependent target engagement with collagen gene and protein expression rising and senescence-associated secretory phenotype markers falling on spatial transcriptomics. What to hold onto: every number here comes from a company press release, not a peer-reviewed paper, so the evidence rating stays Weak regardless of how good the design sounds. The mechanism is also a genuinely different bet from the senolytics readers already know — this is GPX4 and ferroptosis, not the BCL-2/BCL-xL family that dasatinib + quercetin, fisetin and foselutoclax work through, so the platelet toxicity that constrains BCL-xL drugs does not apply and the topical route reflects the skin indications rather than a systemic safety ceiling.
